TODAY’S ADVICE

Please, sir, may I have this job?

Job interviews can be intimidating, to say the least. 🙈

They serve as crucial gateways for jobseekers like yourself, where a series of questions become the bridge between aspiration and reality. These inquiries are designed to not only assess your qualifications but also unravel layers of your personality, problem-solving abilities and cultural fit.

Some of the most common interview questions to prepare for include:

  • “Can you tell me about yourself?”

  • “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”

  • “Can you describe a challenging situation you faced at work and how you handled it?”

  • “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

  • “Why should we hire you for this position?”

Of course, each company has their own unique interview structure and may also ask you less-than-common questions. 🤔

As such, it’s imperative that you do some research into the company’s mission and culture so you can identify other questions you’ll likely be asked. Also think about questions related to your specific industry and role.

Whichever questions are thrown your way, it’s essential to prepare effective responses for a fighting chance to land your dream job. 💪

These quick tips will be useful:

  1. Listen to questions carefully. If you don’t understand a question, don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

  2. Use the PAR method. Describe the Problem, define the Action you took, and share the Result of your efforts.

  3. Speak clearly and vary your tone to show you’re interested and enthusiastic.

  4. Show confidence in your skills and be positive about what you’ve done.

Good luck!
