Ensure your team are satisfied with these top tips!
Aaand we’re back on! 🙌
Okay, so we’re not totally over the weekend either. But we’ve got to let you in on this: Amazon’s attracted attention (the bad kind), and there’s a lot we can learn from that about employee satisfaction. Let’s dive into it!
🎁 PLUS: A checklist (on us!) for the managers on our list that care about keeping their teams happy.
Amazon’s Cyber Monday nightmare 😱
In case you missed it, Amazon was in a bit of a pickle recently. 🥒
Specifically, the warehouse and delivery workers at Amazon’s Spanish unit had arranged a one-hour strike per shift on one of the most critical days of the year: Cyber Monday. Their demands? Better pay and working conditions.
Of course, given that Cyber Monday’s discounts are designed to increase purchases and boost the e-commerce giant’s revenue, Amazon couldn’t afford not to heed the demands. In the end, an agreement was reached, and the majority of the 20,000 Spain-based workers agreed to work normally. 🤝
Though a remaining 5,000 employees proceeded with the strike, this wasn’t enough to impact customer service.
For those who’ve been keeping an eye on Amazon’s doings, this occurrence comes as no surprise: across the world, its warehouse workers have reported unsafe working conditions for years.
So, how can a company that's valued at $ 1.5 trillion continue to justify this?

Employee recognition this holiday season: A guide to gifting
Employee recognition goes far beyond a pizza party. And dropping the ball at recognizing your key leaders can be detrimental to your 2024 success.
According to a recent study, a staggering 82 % of employees report increased happiness when recognized at work, while those that feel overlooked are twice as likely to quit.
So, as the end of the year approaches, it’s imperative that employers showcase their gratitude and appreciation in a way that resonates with their staff.
Gone are the days where a generic corporate gift would suffice; today’s workforce expects something more personalized that speaks to the individual about their efforts.
Below are some killer ideas to win your company some brownie points this season:
🎂 A gift card from their favorite store. Getting to know your employees on a personal level is essential to their satisfaction and giving them something that will be useful is the cherry on top of the cake.
🏂 A personal experience with their teammates. Combine team-building with gift giving by choosing an experience that your employees can do. This can come in the form of a cooking class, adventure hunt, escape rooms or something similar.
💸 Additional paid time off. If your company doesn’t have the budget, a few additional paid days of annual leave will definitely be favorable.
☕ A Christmas raffle. But one with substantial gifts! Think of hotel stays, espresso machines and more luxury items that you wouldn’t typically obtain for yourself.
