What professional Santas don’t want you to know…

For many, the holidays mean taking a break from work and spending time with loved ones. But for others, this period can be a good occasion to find additional work, what with the countless seasonal jobs sprouting up everywhere — including, of course, the quintessential Christmas role: that of Santa Claus. 🎅

Though you’ll likely see dozens of professional Santas in the weeks leading up to Christmas, you might not be aware of what it actually takes to sit in that comfy Santa chair and ho-ho-ho loudly. Well, we’re about to shed some light on the situation:

• Many professional Santas go to Santa University, for which they must pass a background screening and multiple interviews. 🎓

• Santas are often paired up with a doppelganger. Malls find two Santas who look alike, so that one can replace the other when their shift is over without rousing the kids’ suspicion.

• Many Santas start bleaching their beards months in advance.

• They’re encouraged to say “I’ll ask Mrs Claus about that” when they receive strange or inappropriate questions.

• Many Santas have bodyguards who accompany them to and from the set.

• They’re not allowed to make promises. Imagine what would happen if Santa promised every child an $ 800 iPad Pro. Yikes. 😰
