TALKING POINT

The worrying signs of workaholism

workaholism

According to Gallup, 8 in 10 people say they enjoy the work they do. But where does loving your job end and workaholism begin? To protect your mental and physical health and, as a result, your productivity, knowing the differences is crucial.

Occasionally staying in after hours is fine, especially when an important deadline is coming up. But working long hours, even when you don’t need to, can be a sign that something is up. 🌙

Sacrificing your sleep and/or your relationships for the sake of work is a red flag. It’s okay to prioritize your job, but not to the point of neglecting your other needs. 💤

Wanting to do a good job is one thing. Being constantly preoccupied over your output at work and having an intense fear of failure, however, is another. 😰

If you think you might be struggling with workaholism, reflect on what emotions or situations you might be “numbing out” using work.

And, if you’ve got some thoughts to share, reply to this email and let us know!
