TALKING POINT

Happy is the new wealthy 😄

happy pig

Prosperity and accomplishment: two words that describe the American Dream… Or at least used to describe it until fairly recently. It seems like people around the country are starting to rethink their definition of being successful.

More specifically, according to data by GoDaddy, the majority of small business owners in the US define the American Dream as “feeling happy”. Around half of the respondents also associate the Dream with “freedom to follow [their] passions”. 😌

Interestingly, owning a house, which until recent years was seen as a marker of achievement, is the 4th most popular answer. 🏡

Are you surprised by these responses or do you recognize this shift in mindset in yourself and your loved ones? If you do, what does the American Dream represent in your opinion?

TODAY’S ADVICE

Why you should do selfless work

We’re of the opinion that one of the greatest things you can do to advance your career is dedicate at least some of your time to volunteering. Multiple studies have been carried out on the subject over the years, always showing the same results:

Selfless work boosts your mental and physical health. 🤸 The better you feel overall, the more productive you’ll be in the office, too.

Volunteering leads to stronger friendships. 🤝 And having a support group is vital when it comes to building your resilience and pushing through challenges in your career.

Volunteer work leads to a well-rounded skill set. 🧠 It enhances transferable skills including communication, teamwork, delegation and decision making.
