THE BIG IDEA
Firepits + inflation = $ 100k business venture
Tim Rigel came face to face with a common concern for business owners during a period of high inflation. That concern: his margins were declining. So, he set a fixed margin range of 35 % to 40 %, and adapted his pricing monthly. To justify it, he added more customization options.
Rigel started his side hustle, Mozark Fire Pit Studio, in 2021 with immediate success. Within months, orders were coming in from buyers around the US and Canada for his firepits. In 2022, he was charging $ 650 a piece, but due to an increase in the price of recycled steel and gas, he had to raise it to $ 950.
Far from causing customers to run in the opposite direction, the change brought him over $ 169k after this increase. His lesson: re-evaluate your pricing on a monthly basis. Customers will be more likely to accept gradual increases over sudden ones.
What are your thoughts on Tim’s approach? Reply and let us know!

TODAY’S ADVICE
Dropped something… Your manners!
As it’s Bring Your Manners to Work Day, we wanted to talk about workplace etiquette. While it’s easy to notice when a colleague is being disrespectful, we ourselves might become offensive or annoying without even realizing. So, let’s look at some subtle ways in which you might be getting on people’s nerves:
😏 You gossip. There might be no ill intentions behind it, but you could still be finding better ways to bond with your colleagues.
🤫 You talk… a lot. Being friendly is one thing; oversharing and distracting everyone around you is another.
😒 You love control. You tell people what to do, thinking you’re being helpful when in reality you’re being irritating and kind of condescending.
🤒 You come into work sick. It doesn’t show your “work ethic” as you think; it just says “I'm super inconsiderate!”
