The woman who broke into the sports agent game
🏈 Football has surrounded Kelli Masters since childhood. She remembers attending her first game at 3 or 4 and wanting to be involved somehow. She started training as a baton twirler, and competed in national events at 8.
In college, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her father and attend law school. After graduation, an athlete asked for help to establish a foundation. More athletes would follow. Everyone repeated the same thing: they wished she had been there from the beginning. That’s when she realized her purpose: to become a sports agent.
But there was one issue: the industry was a male-dominated one. There were constant reminders of it. But nobody could sway her: this was her purpose. The result? Since 2006, Masters has been an agent or contract advisor to players in every NFL draft pick. In 2010, she became the first woman to represent a first round draft pick player.
