TALKING POINT
Internal mobility is ⬆️, loyalty is ⬇️
Every year, LinkedIn gathers and analyzes data on workplace trends. In their 2023 Global Talent Trends report, the business platform notes that internal mobility is on the rise. This is true for 16 out of the 19 industries they looked at, with the highest rates happening in entertainment providers, administrative services and professional services.
With hiring slowing down, companies are using promotions and internal role transfers to fill gaps. What’s interesting, however, is that employees seem indifferent to this shift. The numbers have shown that, in most cases, workers prefer to look for opportunities elsewhere than move internally.
This could be due to the fact that internal promotions aren’t offered equally. The ones who are given the option are either “people leaders” or Gen Xers, it seems. Another possible explanation is that employees just aren’t satisfied enough to stick around. According to the stats, people need good compensation, work–life balance and flexibility to do so… Plus the ability to keep learning, in any role.
Are you surprised by these trends? Reply and let us know.

TODAY’S ADVICE
Got 10 minutes? Update your résumé ⏰
Found your dream job but the application window closes tomorrow, and you don’t have time to give your résumé a complete makeover? Or perhaps you want to give your résumé a little refresh, just because?
Well, these 10 résumé updates need no more than 10 minutes:
Refresh the header. Make sure the information is correct and current.
Ditch the objective statement. Instead, write a career summary tailored to the employer.
Scrap buzzwords. Instead, use language that accurately represents your qualifications.
Eliminate old positions. Anything over 15 years should make way for more recent experiences.
Delete graduation dates. They’re not as important as employment dates.
Update your skills. Add newly acquired skills and discard outdated or irrelevant ones.
Modernize its look. Choose a better font and add a splash of color.
Review the formatting. Make sure page margins and line spacing are consistent.
Delete “References available upon request”. It needlessly takes up valuable space.
Proofread it. Make sure your “attention-to-derail skills” don’t move you into the “No” pile.
