The writers’ strike, LEGO's impressive campus, psychological tricks, and more…
TOGETHER WITH
Happy Monday! 😁 Starting the week, we have:
LEGO’s campus: An exercise in having fun at work.
Psychology of getting ahead: 5 tricks to make it happen.
The writers’ strike: What will happen to our favorite shows?
💡 QUOTE OF THE DAY: “They must often change who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” — Confucius, Chinese philosopher
THE BIG IDEA
Of course LEGO did that!
In 2022, after 5 years of planning and building, the LEGO Campus opened its doors. Located in Billund, Denmark, it spans 54,000 m2 (the area of 7 rugby fields) and welcomes 2k employees each day.
This one-of-a-kind workplace was built to reflect the LEGO Group values, which include fun, creativity and learning. And it sure does!
Firstly, there’s the life-size, drivable Bugatti Chiron made out of LEGOs in the lobby. Then there’s the outdoor furniture, made from more than 5 tons of recycled LEGO bricks. And the sports hall? It shapeshifts according to the sport you want to play. If you hit the “basketball” button, for example, LED lights will illuminate the court boundaries. Baskets will come down from the ceiling.
This was done in an effort to create a playful, collaborative environment for employees. The more they connect with their inner child, the more their ideas will appeal to children around the world!

TODAY’S ADVICE
Getting ahead: It’s all psychological
Solving complex problems, delivering solid results, going above and beyond… These are things that we’re programmed to (and that we should) strive for. And they can certainly help us succeed at work and navigate our career.
But you know what else works? Psychology.
These 5 psychological tricks will do, well, the trick.
🧍 Sit down Stand up. A non-sedentary workplace can make you more energized, innovative and team-oriented. A good standing desk might just be what you need.
✔️ Guide people to saying “yes”. Want to make your manager agree to your ideas? Ask questions that lead them to the answer you want, like “Wouldn’t it be terrific if we had more time for X every month?”
🤔 Don’t say “I think”. It just makes you sound unsure of your own ideas and opinions, which means you’ll be less likely to succeed in swaying people to your way of thinking.
👀 Make eye contact. This helps you appear more confident, authentic and enthusiastic, and it makes people trust you more. But don’t stare them down.
👔 Dress for the job you want. We’ve heard this before, but it’s true. You’ll feel more confident in yourself. Plus, if you can’t dress yourself properly, your manager might think you can’t handle much else.

How will the writers’ strike affect our favorite shows?
If you’re keeping track, the last time there was a writers’ strike, it was back in 2007–2008. If you’re a fan of The Office (who isn’t?), you’ve probably asked why season 4 feels short. Well, that’s it! It’s still one of the finest seasons, but we lost a whole 11 episodes!
Some 15 years later, the writers of Hollywood are on strike again. The final season of Stranger Things will be delayed as a result 😢.
