THE BIG IDEA
Failure Success to launch 🚀
From the time he was a child, Peter Beck, a New Zealand native, knew that his purpose was to build rockets. He remembers reading children’s books that had rockets in them. Everything he did outside of school was related to space.
At age 18, Beck chose not to attend college. Instead, he worked as an apprentice for a tool and die-making company and later as a material engineer. After a round of job rejections from companies like NASA in 2006, he decided to start his own company, Rocket Lab.
Less than 20 years later, it’s one of the leading companies specializing in lightweight, reusable rockets, and is valued at over $ 2.5B. It also holds the record for successfully launching a rocket within 2 attempts!
Apparently, you don’t always need a college degree to achieve your dreams!

TODAY’S ADVICE
Let your body do the talking
Although what you say — and how you say it — during a job interview matters, what you don’t say can sometimes matter more.
🧍♀️ Indeed, how your body “talks” can be the make or break of you. One wrong move can make you come across as disinterested and bored — and you can then say “goodbye” to your dream job.
Want to make sure your body language is sending interviewers the right message? These tips will help:
Start with a handshake. This should be firm enough to show confidence and warmth of personality, but not to crush their bones! Do this with everyone, including the receptionist.
Smile. A warm, genuine smile can make everyone feel comfortable. But don’t force it and don’t smile throughout the entire interview. The key is to pick the right moments. 😊
Sit up straight. And forward slightly. Good posture demonstrates you’re engaged and paying attention to the conversation.
Make eye contact. This shows respect and helps you make a connection with your interviewer. Make sure to occasionally look away so you don’t stare them down! 👀
Watch your face. Your “thoughtful” or “concerned” faces might look more like scowls. Practice your facial expressions in a mirror.
Mirror your interviewer. Notice and reflect back your interviewer’s mannerisms. Be warned, though: mirroring is not mimicking — it’s subtle.
