THE BIG IDEA
Cash stuffing: How it wiped one TikToker’s debt
This is not an innovative concept. It’s basically the age-old “envelope method” of budgeting from yesteryear, where paychecks are divvied up into envelopes earmarked for different expenses.
What’s left over goes toward saving for the future. Or paying debt. Which is exactly what TikToker Jasmine Taylor did.
In 2021, Jasmine lost her full-time job and was making ends meet and paying her mounting student bills with various side hustles, including as a DoorDash driver.
She then took her stimulus check (a measly $ 1,200) and started “cash stuffing”. By the end of the year, she got rid of $ 23,000 in student debt and wiped out her medical and CC bills.
Once Jasmine got a hold of things, she started a business, Baddies and Budgets, which pulled in about $ 850,000 in 2022 through courses and budgeting supplies. This year, it’s on track to clear $ 1 miIIion.

OPINION
Should I stay or should I go?
Do you know what it’s like to love your job but hate the work environment? It’s very, very confusing! On the one hand, you fantasize about waltzing out the door and not looking back. On the other, you can’t imagine actually giving up what you have. So, what do you do?
Some tips on coping with this conflicting situation:
🛑 Set boundaries. Practice saying “no” to your manager’s unreasonable demands. Turn a deaf ear to your desk neighbor’s gossiping. Keep an emotional distance to the stuff that drains you.
👬 Rely on your support group. Friendships boost our emotional resilience. Share your feelings with your buddies, but don’t let work become the main topic of conversation every time you see them!
🧘 Practice acceptance. There are some things we simply can’t change. We can either hold on to the positives of a situation and stop internalizing the negatives, or we can move on when something doesn’t serve us.
If you try these things for a while and find that you’re still feeling burnt out, it may be a sign to start looking elsewhere.
📝 TUESDAY’S TO DO:
Start working on that thing you’ve been stalling on 🙄 Most of us have a straightforward task we keep postponing. This is your sign to sweep yours out of the way!
TODAY’S ADVICE
Following up after an interview (the right way)
You’ve had what you can describe as a successful interview for your dream job. You’ve even sent personalized “thank you” letters to each interviewer. But it’s been a couple of weeks, and you haven’t heard back from them.
So, what do you do? You send a follow-up email, of course:
First, stick to the timeframe. If you were told that a hiring decision would be made in 4 weeks’ time, don’t follow up a week after your interview. Instead, follow up on the 4-week mark.
Be professional and courteous. This isn’t the time for humor or self-deprecation. Remember to thank them for their time 🙏
Explain the purpose of your email. Be specific about the job, mentioning the job title and interview date.
Reiterate your interest in the job. Try to mention a specific aspect of the position that intrigues you.
Ask for an update. Explain that any information they can provide you will be greatly appreciated. But don’t be pushy ❌
Sign off. Invite them to ask any additional questions they may have.
In the meantime, keep applying for other jobs. Don’t let this one position stand in the way of other opportunities.
