THE BIG IDEA

The retired grandmother making 7 figures a year 🤑

Guilty of living from paycheck to paycheck? Well, most of us are.

And so was Korean-born Sun Yong Kim-Manzolini.

Adopted by American parents at the age of 14, Sun Yong eventually went on to become a certified medical assistant, earning 35k a year. For the next 33 years, she spent her evenings and weekends working different jobs just to make ends meet. She sold vacuums, cleaned houses and ran a catering business.

When she retired in 2015, she had no funds saved away, and she couldn’t touch her pension or 401(k) plans. So, she looked for other ways to sustain herself.

She took out a home equity loan, put it into an investment account and started trading options. She ended up making 178k.

Today, she’s making 7 figures! 💰

A grandmother of 4, Sun Yong is now teaching others how to use her “unique miracle system” to spend less time working and more time on family.

Are you thinking about following in Sun Yong’s footsteps?

📝 THURSDAY’S TO DO:

Invest in a resistance band 🧘 Resistance bands are a great way to stretch and strengthen your upper back throughout the day, as you work. This can improve posture and minimize aches.

TALKING POINT

The rise of resenteeism 😠

If you’ve not heard of resenteeism, it’s the love child of job insecurity and low job satisfaction. With companies continuing their layoff sprees, employees are becoming reluctant to quit… Even when they’re utterly dissatisfied with their jobs.

Better have a job you can’t stand than take the plunge and find yourself out of work in a few months. Right? Well, it depends who you ask.

Resenteeism goes hand in hand with quiet quitting, which means doing the bare minimum. And disillusioned employees can cost companies a fortune! As for the employees themselves, they’re forced to choose between their paycheck and their sanity. Yikes.

Will companies catch on and do something? Such as hold regular check-ins with their staff, offer advancement opportunities, embrace flexible working… Or will they carry on as usual?

FUN FACT 💻 Did you know that workers receive, on average, 122 emails a day? Only about 38 per cent of them, though, are worth their time.

TODAY’S ADVICE

Eating lunch at work: There’s a right and wrong way! 🍔

If you think that no one’s watching you while you scoff down a Subway submarine in 2 minutes, followed by a pack of chips and a soda, then think again!

Even if you’re quietly munching down your lunch at your desk, it’s important to follow some basic etiquette rules. So, in honor of National Make Lunch Count Day, follow these tips:

1. Don’t eat anything smelly: Don’t be that eat-fish-in-an-open-plan-office a**hole. Even if you’re on a healthy eating vibe, there’s no need to eat stinky fish at work.

2. Don’t steal someone else's lunch: Remember that scene from Friends where someone eats Ross’s sandwich? Yeah, don’t be that person.

3. Avoid lunch analysis: Whatever you do, don’t pass judgment on what your coworkers are eating.

4. Stick to small talk: Don’t start a deep conversation about solving world peace when someone is trying to eat their lunch.

5. Clean up your mess: If you’re eating in a common room, be sure to clean up after yourself. 🧹
